In January 2008 CARTECO, a company that specializes in the retail of architectural materials, commissioned k&karchitects to create a 24/7 self-service material’s library and at the same time a creative working place dedicated to architects and designers.

The overall design goal of this project was to keep the sixties’ feeling of the house while updating it. One of the main gestures was the design of the stairs that connect the two floors. Its railing the same as the original one that is employed in the balcony. The living spaces have been opened and interconnected, separated only by light structures such as glass, or a difference in the materials (the wooden ribbon that separates the kitchen from the living room). The materials employed are marble, corten, wood, and colored HPL.
Polygonal shaped pillows combined to wall graphics transform this ophthalmologist kids’ waiting area in Thessaloniki into a ludic, friendly space.
